During each visit to the UK, Niki sees patients at the College
of Traditional Acupuncture, Haseley Manor,
Hatton, Warwickshire CV35 7LU. Practitioners are most welcome
to bring patient(s) for a second opinion/consultation on
treatment strategy. Please discuss possibilities directly
with Trisha Blatston, College Receptionist on
(01926) 484-158. Consultations may need to be booked months
in advance, due to the intensive nature of Niki’s schedule.
2010
dates:
Thursday 22nd July
Monday 6th December
Consultation fee: £75.00
Considerations: Please bring the patient’s treatment file in case
you need to refer to it, plus a brief preface sheet stating the main complaint(s),
treatment strategy to date, responses to treatment and, most importantly, your
questions. Only in exceptional circumstances will Niki see a patient without the
referring practitioner attending.

each two day session and according
to participants’ wishes, practitioners
discuss topics arising in clinical
practice (with specific questions
submitted a month in advance),
discuss case histories, review
a chosen aspect of theory (with
prior optional reading), and
hone practical skills (e.g.
pulse palpation). Extensive
tutor input and feedback is
available in all areas covered.
There is normally an optional,
extra clinical day, where 2-3
participants bring a patient
from their practice. The tutor

THURSDAY-FRIDAY
29th-30th JULY 2010
INTERNAL
DRAGONS AND EXTERNAL DRAGONS
10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm Thursday
Acupuncture practice, historically,
has always included a concept
of possession, whether by xie
gui (perverse spirits)
during its shamanic origins
or by xie qi (pathogenic qi)
after the Warring States period.
This day will present the two
seven point protocols for bodymindspirit
disturbances to the central
axis of life, between the heart
and the yi (IDs) and
the heart and the zhi (EDs).
The heart, intent and will,
collectively charged with the
expression of the spirits,
are discussed within the thirteen
servants of life and death, Lingshu Chapter
8. Aetiology, diagnosis, treatment
techniques, location of points
and fen depths will
be discussed in detail. The
clinical application of the
dragon protocols will be compared
with the uses of the twenty
ghost points and the thirteen
ghost point protocol.
YINYANG AND THE IMBALANCE OF HUSBAND-WIFE
10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm Friday
Existence arises from Taiji or
the Supreme Ultimate: yang generates
movement which, reaching its
limit, pivots into yin generating
tranquility which, reaching
its limit, pivots into movement. Yinyang is
the Dao of HeavenEarth
(Suwen Chapter 5),
and yinyang theory
allows us to understand and
master the dynamics of change
and harmony. One of the greatest
threats to the natural cycle
of life and death is a separation
between the yang zang (heart
and liver rooted in kidney yin)
and the yin zang (lung
and spleen rooted in kidney yang),
i.e. between the officials
who manifest in the left pulses
(husband) and the officials
who manifest in the right pulses
(wife). This day will discuss
the clinical principles of yinyang, and
consider the aetiology, diagnosis
and treatment of a husband-wife
imbalance, including all possible
treatment protocols and techniques.

you would like more information

Colour, Sound, Odour and Emotion Workshop
Coming again on Thursday 3rd
- Friday 4th March 2011
Whether new to the world of
the five elements or a practitioner
with decades of experience,
the diagnostics of colour,
sound, odour and emotion are
the foundation and mastery
of five element diagnostics.
This 2-day workshop is an interactive
immersion into the senses as
they perceive the qi of the
elements. It will enhance diagnostic
skills regardless of our lever
of expertise, basing our insights
in the current phase of our
understanding and perception.
The workshop will specifically
equip practitioners and students
with the ability to discern
the subtleties of colours,
sounds, odours and emotions
as they relate to the CF, and
to refine and extend those
skills already present. This
interactive event is suitable
for all acupuncture practitioners
and students from any tradition
who are interested in five
element diagnostics, as well
as for students and practitioners
of shiatsu and plant spirit
medicine, and other traditions
using the five elements as
a core diagnostic rubric.
Seeing The Withins - The Artistry of the CF
Tuesday 27th - Wednesday 28th
July 2010 (10am - 5pm)
This 2-day event is aimed at
practitioners familiar with
the basic clinical practice
of treating the CF (the causative
factor of five element acupuncture),
and who want to develop the
sophistication of clinical
insight and effectiveness that
the withins offer. This workshop
is highly interactive and is
most effective with large groups
of people.
We will observe shades of difference
and similarity between people
who share the same CF diagnosis
and increase our understanding
of how this is influenced by
the withins. Niki will guide
us in working in a way where
the intention and presence
of the practitioner becomes
part of the treatment as well
as the needles, moxa and choice
of points.
This
workshop is only open to graduate
practitioners.
The Clinical
Implications of Seasonal Energetics
Workshop III
Thursday
2nd - Friday 3rd December 2010
(10am – 5pm)
This event
will focus on developing our
understanding of health in
spring, in summer, in fall,
in winter and in the transitions.
This knowing-how is a precursor
to effectively treating the
elements throughout the year,
harmonizing the spirits with
the qi of the season. This
workshop is open to graduate
practitioners.
“The yin
yang of the 4 seasons
Is the root and trunk of the 10,000 beings.
For this reason, the saints
In spring and summer maintain the yang,
In autumn and winter maintain
the yin.” SuWen Chapter Two |
