What does acupuncture feel like? It's really
not that bad!
Most people’s experience of needles is of those used
in injections and blood tests. Acupuncture needles bear
little resemblance to these. They are much finer and
are solid rather than hollow. Needles are inserted either
for a second or two, or left in place for some time,
depending on the result required. There may be a slight
sensation (often described as a dull ache or a tingling)
when the needle initially meets the acupuncture point:
this quickly fades.
